This term has flown by and the children have continued to work hard to produce some amazing learning in all areas of the curriculum.
Varjak Paw, has so far, proved to be a popular text with the children. As we explored the first chapter, the children predicted what they thought was going to happen in the text, participated in debates as well as drama activities. As the character leaves the confines of the house, the busy city streets provided the perfect opportunity to write and perform some poetry. In preparation for a final piece of artwork depicting the character Varjak Paw, we have been practising different techniques using a range of art pencils, these have included hatching, cross-hatching and spiralling. We are looking forward to seeing the final pieces of artwork the children create.
In Geography, the children have become experts in reading Ordnance Survey maps of the local area, so if you are out for a walk using a map ask your child to identify the various symbols.
Whilst in Science, we have been exploring living things and their habitats and during the ICT day the children researched a living thing of their choice and created a PowerPoint presentation, with images and key information.
But perhaps the most memorable day for all the children was the day the snow fell and we made the most of the opportunity to go outside. It was lovely to see the teamwork core value being demonstrated and they all worked so hard together to create some interesting snowmen and snow sculptures. The snow also provided a great stimulus for some descriptive writing during the English lessons the following week.
