Reading and Phonics
At Tiger Primary School we use Letters and Sounds to teach phonics, supplementing this with Jolly Phonics. These are both synthetic phonics schemes. For more information and useful video and resources please click here.
Letters and Sounds
Letters and Sounds is a six-phase teaching programme designed to help practitioners and teachers teach children how the alphabet works for reading and spelling. It was published in April 2007 and has been widely distributed to local authorities, schools and settings.
Jolly Phonics is a thorough foundation for reading and writing. It uses the synthetic phonics method of teaching the letter sounds in a way that is fun and multi-sensory. Children learn how to use the letter sounds to read and write words. To view the Parent Guide to Jolly Phonics for children aged 3 to 6 years old please click here.
At Tiger Primary School a number of reading schemes are in use, together with a range of other books to support reading development.
