Level: A Level
Entry Requirements: Geography GCSE C, English C, Maths C and Science C.
Geography is studied over 2 years with an AS in the first year and A2 in the second. The course covers a wide range of topics integrating both human and physical aspects of the subject.
AS Physical Geography topics include:
- World at risk including tectonic and weather hazards
- Crowded Coasts
AS Human Geography topics include:
- Globalisation and population change
- Re-branding of places
A2 Physical Geography topics include:
- Energy issues
- Water conflicts
- Biodiversity threats
A2 Human Geography topics include:
- Superpower geographies
- Bridging the development gap
- Technology fixes
Both the AS and A2 course involve local fieldwork collection for rebranding, coasts and water conflicts topics.
This course allows for easy progression to university or into industry. Students can go on to study a wide range of Geographic specific courses including: Human and Physical Geography, geology, Earth Sciences, Geophysics etc.
In addition to this presentation and analytical skills allow students to progress into a wide range of careers including: business, economics, management, sciences, town and event planning etc.
Students in recent years have gone on to also study: Arts, Nursing, Business and Psychology. Others have gone into industry including: Health and leisure, Armed Forces and apprenticeships.
