Level 3 Acting is an exciting course that develops not only acting techniques and performance skills, but furthers the student's theory of drama, understanding of the importance of drama and develops transferable skills.
The EDEXCEL Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma is the equivalent to 1 A level. The course is made up of a number of core and specialist units that can be mixed and matched to suit the cohort’s interests, skills and abilities. These units include:
- Principles of acting
- Performing to an audience
- Auditions for actors
- Applying acting skills
- Theatre in education
- Devising plays
- Classical theatre
- Rehearsing for performance
- Theatre performance
- Musical theatre
All units are assessed and graded through coursework, practical workshops and performance. An emphasis is put on filming rehearsals and practically exploring work. An overall grade is then awarded for the qualification.
We offer links with professional companies such as the ChickenShed Theatre Company and Hopshed Theatre. We have close links with the Hazlitt Theatre, Brook Theatre and The Central Theatre.
BTEC qualifications are valued by employers and higher education (universities, colleges and Performing Arts schools). Students go into careers such as acting, stage management, directing, play writing, teaching and theatre performance. A selection of our pupils have also been successful in securing exciting work placements in West End theatres, as well as getting ensemble parts in West End shows once their degrees have ended.
If you decide to go to college to university after completing this course, you could go to a performance institution or study a degree in subjects such as Drama, Acting, Musical Theatre, Performing Arts, Stage Technician, Technical Theatre and many more.
