What is School Direct?
School Direct is a training route for graduates to become qualified teachers. You will train on the job and at the end of the year will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status. Candidates may opt to complete a PGCE as part of their training, but will be responsible for the additional cost.
The two training options available for School Direct are explained below:
School Direct Training – Salaried:
This route will entail you being employed directly by the Trust from day one. You need to have relevant work experience in order to be eligible for this route. The Trust will fund your training and you will also receive a salary on the Unqualified Instructors Pay Scale.
School Direct Training – Non-Salaried:
This route is a training route supported by the Trust. You will have (or be on track for) at least a 2:1 degree relevant to the position. Whilst you will be responsible for your own fees, you may be eligible for a bursary of up to £20,000 whilst you train. Details of bursaries can be found here:
