Getting to the Academy
Cornwallis Academy is really easy to get to from all sides of town.
The two main bus companies, Arriva and Nu-Venture both stop at the Academy for the morning drop off and afternoon collection. Although bus travel to school can seem daunting at the beginning it quickly becomes part of the daily routine for many of our students and an unmissible social catch up session.
Morning Drop Off
Connection services from Maidstone Town Centre leave the Chequers Centre at 7:27, 7:32, 7:59 and 8:06. All get you to the Academy for a punctual 8:30 start. The Academy is in fact open much earlier than this and early birds can get a breakfast from 8:00 to set them up for the day.
If coming in from the south there are very reliable services from the villages. The 8:07 from Sutton Harbour and the 7:51 from Yalding will both get to the Academy for 8:25, whilst the 7:31 from Sutton Harbour taking the scenic route via Headcorn will get you there by 8:20.
For those travelling in from the east and north-east services from Langley Heath and Grove Green will get you to the Academy for 8:24 and and the Hollingbourne service departing from the church gets you to The Wheatsheaf in Loose by 7:47 - easily in time to catch the 8:05 up to the Academy, arriving at 8:15.
All services have a corresponding return leg at the end of the school day to get students home.
The Young person's travel pass is the most cost effective way to budget your travel for the year. A full year’s travel (365 days, not just school days) costs £200 for students in Years 7 to 11 and is available through KCC. Students eligible for Free School Meals can get the same pass for £100 a year. Click here for more information.
