At Cornwallis Academy we are proud to offer an after school curriculum for our Gifted and Talented students. We identify students for this based on their Key Stage 2 grades and CAT's results and hold a parents' information evening early in the academic year in order to invite your child, if eligible, to join.
The Arts Award has been successfully running at the Academy for the past three years. Through the Arts Award, children and young people can explore many art forms including performing arts, visual arts, literature, media and multimedia. The Award builds confidence, helps young people to enjoy cultural activities, and prepares them for further education or employment. The Arts Award is managed by Trinity College London in association with Arts Council England.
At Cornwallis, students in Years 7-10 have the opportunity to complete the Bronze, Silver and Gold awards, all of which are accredited and equate to more UCAS points for university.
To take part in the Arts Award students must be organised, creative and show perseverance in order to participate and lead elements within the arts field such as; media, sculpture, technical theatre, music, dance and drama, to name but a few. To complete the Award students must create an extensive portfolio in order to evidence their participation which takes a great deal of their own time to complete.
